Games, the Obsession of my
Life
I am one of the few and the
proud.... The female gamers.
I will play just about anything.
So
here are a few of my favorites.
Th e Classics,
and variations thereon:
- Chess: the
one true game. I wish I were a better player. Or that there were some more
opponents around here.
- Go: I am truly horrible but I still enjoy
it.
- Mah Jongg: Fascinating, but I think I prefer using the tiles
for Shanghai.
- Othello: Much fun. I enjoy. Here I wish my computter
were a smarter opponent.
- Pente: Connect four-plus-one, with a
twist or two. My playing's gone down since I took all the stones to use as
counters for other games, though.
- Cathedral: A variation on Go I'm
actually good at.
Games with
Cards:
- Mao: The king of Card Games, aka
Uno on acid. I'd tell you the rules only it's against the
rules.
- Gin: And gin rummy and all like that there. Taught me by my
grandmother, and something of an in-joke.
- Solitaire: I know more
versions of this than.... I dunno. I may put rules up on this page
eventually, in case anyone cares....
Weird games with cards:
- Magic: The original
collectible card game/obsession. Magic magic plaaaaaay Magic!
- Jyhad: (Now called
"Vampire: the Eternal Struggle." S illy WotC.) Vampire. From the makers
of the Magic.... I long for other players on campus....
- Illuminati: New World Order
(INWO): Weirdness incarnate. The trilogy was better.
- And I
have even st ooped to play Spellfire.
Roleplaying games
are my passion. The
concept of getting into someone else's mind and being that person
fascinates me as a writer.
- Shadowrun is my favorite genre
at the moment. It si cyberpunk with magic, and just plain nifty.
Shadowland is a Web site devoted to
this game which I waste entirely too much of my life on.
Characters I
actually play are:
- Earthdawn
is a game set in the same universe as that of Shadowrun - but something
like 10,000 years earlier. My character is the T'skrang Archer K'harra Shustal, also known as Heartsong
Soulspeace. Earthdawn is a lot of fun, but I'm not up to describing it at
the moment. On K'harra's subpage, there is a link to Kevin's Earthdawn
page,
which I will also put here for cleverness' sake.
- Chaos is an as-yet
unpublished gaming system, created by my beloved roommate's beloved, Eric
Reuss. It is INCREDIBLE amounts of fun, just by its purely random nature.
My character there is named Wonder, and she also will be acquiring a page
sooner or later.
- Vampire:
The Masquerade oughta be nifty if Bigsis
ever gets around to running it. My character, Gabrielle, is a Gangrel.
Online
RPG's:
- WACKO: (red-branch.mit.edu
6003)
This is an exercise in weirdness. Bug me there as Rastaban, the
psychedelic blue dragon. Also keep an eye out for Arcadia, my IC
(in-character) daughter, and Auradon, an other incarnation of Kevin....
We're all friendly people, if often bewildered.
To come and visit us,
jump 11468, the Concordant Crossroad, and head up the trail to the rock
face.
- PernMUSH: (pern.mccr.org
4201)
One of the billions of MUSHes based on the Pern series by Anne
McCaffrey.
There I am Ellia of Harper
Hall, Ch'ran of Fort Weyr, Kirnin, of the
Voyager
Western Train of Traders, and Ryai, a rather imposing sort of cotholder.
(South Boll)
I have recently added a little chart of my family there, for my own
personal amusement, and also to prove that I can do html tables to the
universe. Therefore, here is the family
mess.
- New England: the
Reckoning: (haven.idyllmtn.com 6969) A MUSH based on the White Wolf
Vampire/Werewolf RPGs. It is set in 1730's Boston, and is rather a lot of
fun. I'm the web page admin, but please don't bug me about the fact that
the page isn't finished yet. I've been busy. There, I am most frequently
known as Gabrielle.
- DragonDreams:
(cesium.clock.org 8888)
A very tiny Pern-based MUSH.
There I am
known as Rhaeda.
- OtakuMUSH: (tinymush.otaku.org 6250) Another one of them Pern-based
MUSHes. I'm Jorinne, weyrbrat extraordinare, and J'rily's daughter.
- Hilsar: (not yet open) Now this place is neat. I'm the
codewizard - Songdragon. It's not based off anything in particular, aside
from the head wizards' minds, but it is really really nice.
- DeryniMUSH: (not yet open) Another place I'm codewizzing for, as
Silver this time. The theme is based off Katherine Kurtz's Deryni
universe.
- Prohibition: The Underworld: (not yet open) Um, I seem to have a lot
of these, don't I? Yes, this is another World of Darkness MUSH, for which
I am code wizard (pity me please). My character there is Alyssa.
- Necropolis: (telmaron.com 4250) A fascinatingly dark world, home to
demons, vampires, were-creatures, fae, mutants, and ordinary humanity....
I have three characters there, though only two of them are really active -
it takes a lot of energy to play Ira.
- Alyssa Gweneviere Davis, a Were-Cat (Gwen)
- Fionn Fionnbharr, a Pooka Fae (Fi)
- Irene Maria de los Fuegos, a Demon Half-Breed (Ira)
- Spock: (fledge.watson.org
2150) The wierdest MUD (Multi-user Dungeon) on the face of the internet.
There, kill things with great vigor and excitement- but don't get It, or
if you do, TAG SOMEONE!
There, I am the Minotaur Mage
Firedrake.
- Ancient Anguish is another
MUD, and this one is a bit more traditional.
- Asich is a Ranger of the House of Midiar
- Nightpaw is a Fighter of the House of Amros
Well,
that's a largish list.
From here you could go back to the havens or start over. Or there's the things to chew on.
